You Will Never Be Ready So Do It Now

I am back! Actually I have had a very busy week with interviews and Japanese tea ceremonies. I have learned the art of not shooting too low (job wise) and I have done some entries but they might be a bit damning of the present gig so I will publish them when I have moved on. Which hopefully will be sooner rather than later.

I went to the most inspiring place last night. The Urasenke Chanoyu Center on 69th Street. Ironically or serendipitously the old home of Mark Rothko’s studio (His ghost has apparently been seen). I needed a change of pace, a little spirituality and a little Rothko ghost to get out of this pre-spring and hellish job funk.

The whole concept of the tea ceremony is just beautiful. It actually translates to Way Of Life, not Tea Ceremony. They built the most beautiful Japanese tea garden and tea hut inside Rothko’s old studio. You pass through the door to the gardens and it is hard to believe you are inside, and inside somewhere in NYC. Everything down to the stones in the garden were brought over from Japan and built by carpenters from Japan. On that side of the world there are 2 types of carpenters. Carpenters who build homes and then carpenters that build temples and spiritual places. They brought over the later. Although Rothko felt like he never achieved Zen I hope he has found some peace or Zen here. If I were a ghost I would be haunting The Urasenke Chanoyu Center to.

Don’t tell Steve, but I still don’t like and/or get Rothko.
