The Day Everything Sucked
My organization moved offices downtown by Wall Street. When I think of Wall Street, I think of suits, stocks and lots of Federal Security Cops. I don’t tend to think of the corner of William Street and Exchange Place, which might be nastier, then the corner of our past location of 37th Street and 10th Ave.Tuesday, the Executive Director and I were walking past this corner to get lunch. The wind chill was about 5 degrees and my cheeks where burning from the cold. On that corner are 2 very nasty, usually drunk, homeless dudes. The first time I ever past this corner, one of them was taking a rather long leak right in front of me. I saw it all….and-ew. But Tuesday there was a guy from the block spraying one these homeless guys with a hose. The homeless guy was soaking wet and I watched as he just sat there and took it. It might have been one of the most disgusting, inhumane things I have ever seen in the city (other than a creepy dude jerking off over my head on the A train last year). Yes they are gross men and yes they are mean and cranky but for the love of all that is holy-these men are humans!
It sucks that the police wouldn’t have responded if I had called them and it sucks that I didn’t say anything to stop this from going on. I think this event has lead to my week of bad Karma. If there was something that could have sucked this week-it has. Thanks a lot Mr. Jerk-off with a hose.
PS-I am not sure what is up with this font craziness but a post is a post!

Witnessing a deplorable act isn’t a kharma killer… sometimes you see crap in this city and no reasoning you can conjure can rationalize it or fill in the metaphysical blanks. You just have to shake your head and keep the poker face good and tight…
